From the Eye

Hi guys,

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a lovely time at my family reunion.

Not really had time for the photography side of things for a couple of days. Had this picture saved on the blog as an emergency. Well that time is here.

This is a picture taken from the London Eye last year. It was a damn difficult shot to take. As you all know, the damn thing does not stop moving, I did not have my tripod with me, and had people bumping into me constantly.
With my shutterspeed so slow and having to take the picture through the glass and no tripod... (excuses, excuses, and more excuses), I was quite impressed with the shot at the end of the day.

Anyway out of the 20 or so snaps I took, this was one of the better ones (okay I only got 2 use able shots).

Is it a successful shot?

You tell me :)

Suby, I'm wondering why you had your aperture on f/5.0, what lens did you use?

Contrary to the opinion of many, I do like this shot, not for the technical work but for the concept, You've done well to choose Waterloo station as your subject in this one.

I like it. I like night shots that arn't crystal clear. It makes the colors look warmer, and I think that is a good look sometimes.

Ah, the glow of city lights. It never fails to strike a cord in me - you can feel the strength and organisation of mankind!

'Fraid the image is a bit blurry though. Maybe ok for a 5x7 print (similar in size to the image above). But it won't make a good poster. Did you try pressing your lens up against the glass of the London Eye capsule? It helps a lot in stabilizing the camera and I've got away with ridiculous shutterspeeds before. If in doubt, take the same shot 20x and hope 1 comes out well. wink
