photoblog image Four Eyes?

Four Eyes?

In my surfing yesterday, I came across 2 sites that blew me away.  The first one can be seen at  http://nikkiormerod.com Now Nikki's portrait images are out of this world. Mostly location shots that I feel just jump out and grab you. Words are not neccessary to draw you to her images. I'm not easily impressed (as most of you know :) ) but boy was I blown away. Very simple and powerful shots.

The second site http://blog.ayola.com are studio photographs which do not normally get me hot under the collar but the more I looked at his images, the more I wished I was the one who had taken the frames (don't you just hate that). Why have I not taken shots like these? Whats wrong with me? I want my images to stand on the same level as these shots. Damn I have a lot of work to do.
So here I am, thinking of concepts, compositions & ideas for the next shoot. Slaving in front of the PC and hoping I will be a better photographer come morning.
So I think for the next few days I will stick to my 1st(sorry 2nd, Sinem always comes 1st) love. Portrait Shots.
For those who do not know, Portraits are often simple head shots or mug shots and are not usually overly elaborate or creative. The intent is to show the basic appearance of the person, and occasionally some artistic insight into his or her personality.
I love portrait shots, Why? I don't know, what I know is I just do. I love reaching out into peoples souls, digging deep and displaying their true character (or face as I call it) to the whole world. Even showing the subject an insight into themselves that  they probably have never seen.
Hope you enjoy the following photographs. Please as always, let me know what you think. All comments are welcome. Thank you as always for taking the time to visit my humble blog.
Suby
P.s.
I might throw in some "other" shots during my journey, so bear with me.
P.p.s
Jide & Asiko, I am still the best photographer in the world :)

I like portraits too. This one reminds me of one of those spies during the cold war. They always had those long trenchcoats with a high collar to hide their faces. In fact, the hand on the right is a very typical pose for one of these spies (at least in the comics!).
Suby & Sinem: He sure does look like a spy. Now you mention the link between the hands and comic spies I start to see it (yes me a comic geek too) smile

Very nice "Head shot" lol
Suby & Sinem: Thanks mate. I hear you are the man I need to take out in the shutterchance world to claim the post of "best photographer" smile Although it's not fair you have biggers guns than I do(yes that 5D makes me nervous) Well you are warned, Suby about to start stepping up his game LOL
Great contrast! Excellent candid shot.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks for the comment. Yup, think it's a good candid shot.

Love portraits, so I can't wait to see what you've got. This is great! Nothing boring here.
Suby & Sinem: Hey Micki, no pressure man. I can't wait to see what I have got to (now I have to produce the goods) What have I let myself in for? smile Thanks for the comment,
I'll tell you what would have been really nice with this, a bowler(sp) hat! Give him that suspence of an inspector.

Re: Best photographer. I don't think I'm that good, you should see what Skee can do. I think he's the one you should be gearing to face in the ring.
Suby & Sinem: Yup actually thought of that after the shot was taken. This was not a planned shot though, taken at a party and my mate could not help clowning around, and presto, Suby snapping away. As to Mr Skee, he is definitely another guy in my sights. Aim to take you all down smile

i'm simply rubbish at portraiture, so i appreciate them all the more when done well, as is this one. it captures a very humerous moment perfectly.
Suby & Sinem: David
Sorry about the last email. Mind going numb at work here. Thanks for the comments, glad you liked the shot smile
Hee hee. This one really made me smile. Keep it up!
Suby & Sinem: Denosha my man, glad this made you smile, I always aim to please LOL
Self-portrait ?
In any case a funny portrait.
Suby & Sinem: I wish, Nope not a self portrait. Thanks for the comments
i love portraits too, though i barely ever take them. what does that say about me . . . ? anyhow, this is a great shot - lots of character and well done to boot.
Suby & Sinem: Jessica, It says you are better at maybe landscape or a different style smile Thanks for the comments

well done, this is the best portrait I've seen from you. creative with good tones in b&w. Ur stepping up ur game now (in portraits), very nice. Errrmmm why haven't I heard from Sinem, i enjoy listening to her, where is she? stop hiding her Suby.
Suby & Sinem: Hey bro, you don't have to make it so obvious that my words are bla.. sad lol. Sinem was buried under tons of work last night and did not have time for her man's blog. I hope she is reading this and will hopefully tonight grace us with some of her lovely words.

Hey my dearest fans out there!
Suby's not being forthcoming with the whole truth, i.e me feeling completely shite last night and going for a 'short' nap at 7 pm. that somehow took five hours to emerge again at midnight to go on to do more work for another two hours. by then, the photo had already been uploaded and Suby was snoring away... not my fault that I haven't written anything, is it?
: ))

P.S Thanks a million for the kind words, Asiko.
Suby & Sinem: Ooooiiii, so better get your writer head on for the writing session tonight. Yup me still stuck at work sad Love u

A very satirical portrait. I like it's comical tone and the desaturated colour. Thanks for dropping by "nativ flavaz"

Cool portrait shot! Thanks for the kind words on my blog. You also have some great pics on your site. Keep up the great photography! cheers
I love the pose and the close perspective which makes like look intimate. The expression is terrific.
