photoblog image A Rose For Mum

A Rose For Mum

Something different from the Subster tonight.

Took this shot this evening while visiting me Mum. Was sat in the kitchen as usual, chatting at the dinning table, camera in hand (as one always has), generally playing with the camera settings, noticed this flower arrangement in front of me and snap snap snap, we have this gem. Was not really concentrating when I was taking this shot, so quite surprised how it came out.

So since it was taken when I was chatting to the other woman in me life, this is for you Mumsy.... Love you.

Processing -  played with the white balance, played with the curves, increased red sat & red hue a tad bit, vignetting bumped up to max just for the hell of it :) Played around with the contrast, added a little layer here and there for the framing and viola, we have this.

When taking shots, always remember to check your ISO setting. Forgot and left my settings at ISO400 for all the shots I did yesterday. Not a happy bunny :(

Nice job Subster (your new German name). I cant figure out what the item is in the lower right though....what is that thing? Looks like a nuclear warhead, but smaller.
Suby & Sinem: You know what, neither can I figure out what it is, I was soo curious I am back at my Mums to see what exactly it is, It is actually a small garden windmill, It broke and someone stuck it btw the flowers smile
nice colors , i like the soft edge, beautifulsmile
Suby & Sinem: Thanks mate
Very nice dream like image, excellent Subster!
Suby & Sinem: Thanks, glad you like
Nice and pleasing, quite a good shot with lots of potential. But since you're in a angry mood, might I suggest more touching up on the photo? There's some scope for you to further improve the colours and the lighting. Yes... unfortuantely, many good photos are "fake", to get that extra 10% out of a photo, photoshop rulez!
Suby & Sinem: More touching up??????? Naaaa, don't think so. Actually wanted to get the soft tones I got. smile Sorry, the photographers eyes rules, NOT photoshop.

Suby,

I've scrolled through your catologue and have to say I love the pictures you've taken. I'm no expert, I only judge your work based on whether it conveys anything to me and I have to say it does. What's the saying - a good picture says more than a thousand words???

Anyway seeing as this is something you hope to one day do for a living I wondered if you did private work. I'm looking to have some head shots taken to send to casting agents. Is this something you would consider and if so what's your fee?

Nice one. But that flower that looks like a spinning top keeps grabbing my attention.
Suby & Sinem: Truth was when I was taking the pic I was more interested in talking with my mum than what I was doing. I actually thought it was part of the plant and did not give it a second thought. Okay lets just say it's adding a spin to the image smile

I like this shot I am a little undecided about the windmill though it balances between adding interest and detracting focus from the roses itt'll keep me thinking ;-)
Suby & Sinem: Thanks, siince it was not really planned, I think I will go for it not distracting, but adding a little interest. Keep thinking. smile
Beautiful! Sometimes this "fooling around" shots can be so rewarding. The tweaks worked out nicely! Well done.
