Sinem's 1st (Pun Intended)

***Update 16:30hrs ***Sinem to respond to remaining feedback, Her shot, her thanks.

P.s

hanks for the encouragement you guys have been giving. Know she will really appreciate. :)

Okay peeps lets flip it around again.

Sinem is showing an interest in photography, however for the time being, we only have the precious Canon 20D which ofcourse Suby seems to hug all the time, she is not getting as much practice as I know she would like to.

However, on one of those rare moments where the Subster was not hugging the precious 20D, Sinem grabbed a few shots of a bouquet of  flowers my sis got for Mothers day.

I have hardly done any editing to this picture, just boosted up the selective colour a tad bit. No cropping, no nothing. Sinem seems to have an eyes for the landscape & abstract side of things that the Subster most times does not see.

So all I say is watch out folks, there is a new sherriff in the wings just waiting to  come out blazing with all six shooters (ok at least until the Subster either gets the 5D or the dream Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II )

This is a surprise for Sinem, not sure if she is ready for you guys yet, so the sh mode is set to the yellow shhs mode.

So let the constructive feedback begin.

Suby....errr....I don't know how to say this without hurting your feelings so I wouldn't say it.....

Words by Suby??????
Suby & Sinem: Jide, Jide, so where is the constructive feedback? You have to drop some comments on how you think this shot could be improved so that she will learn.
Nice use of focus, this has lots of potential. But can I suggest further blurring out the green patch on the right, and only have a single red flower in focus?
Suby & Sinem: Thanks for the comments and feedback, she is still learning and for her 1st few shot, she is doing rather well smile

Sinem, you seem to have a good grasp of composition... great potenial here!

Suby, once she understands how to focus properly... your days on shutterchance might be numbered ;-)

lol
Suby & Sinem: Thanks for the commentw Skee, not to worry, a little competition never hurt the Subster. Suby still rules.
Yep watch out folks, Sinem will soon be putting up her own blog sometime soon smile
This doesn't do it for me, Suby. I admit that flower shots do little for me, but I tend to see why one shot is better than others. This one is just too drab and too unfocused for me. I like the attempt, but your last two shots were amazing!
Suby & Sinem: Hiya Brent, thanks for the comments as always. I ddi not take this shot, the woman did, hey for one of her 1st attempts she did a good job smile Just the beginning of better shots from her.
Lovely Sinem! Lovely! If this was my within my first batch of photos taken, I'd be very pleased with myself. You've got the eye!!

Hmmmm....perhaps a new photoblog will emerge from this? Sinemsphotos has a nice ring to it! :o)
Suby & Sinem: Thanks a lot, Dave. Indeed I am very please with myself (...says she with a smug smile). new photoblog? all donations are welcome into my kitty for my own cam as suby hugs his all the time!

Sinem, a good start composition wise. Now, if you could just keep your hands on Suby's toy...
Suby & Sinem: Tahnks, garyx, but getting my hands on Suby's toy proves to be huge challenge! Sinem

Sinem, a good composition to start with. Now if you could just hand on to Subys toy for a bit ...
Nice use of DOF
Suby & Sinem: Believe it or not, this was my first trial of DOF, I'm glad it worked. Thank you for your comment, Sinem

I think it's time to hand over your camera to her and step up to your next one. If she's got the bug, you're gonna lose it anyway. Just do it.
Nice dof.
Suby & Sinem: Thank you very much, these comments do inspire me to go out and try some more. Sinem

Dude,

All the hay fever and allergies I have this morning, and you go and post a flower.....sad

Nice shot though....just wish I could look at it through clear eyes....
Suby & Sinem: Oh, get well soon, Digitalmike. Glad you liked my humble attempt at photography. Sinem

I think the DOF is too shallow here, it doesn't highlight the main subject enough. The composition is interesting though, with the lead-in lines especially.
Suby & Sinem: I have a strong feeling I have to practice this DOF business. Not to worry though, I'll get practicing right away. Thank you for your constructive comment, Sinem
Well, I like this picture. It is very dreamlike, very eerie!
I think the DOF is just right ! Give her your camera immediately !
Suby & Sinem: Thanks, Sidney. If only he would...
Compositionally this follows all the rules and as a result is very pleasing.

Compositional rules? Ever heard about three (or at least an odd number) of elements making a strong composition? This has three lovely triangles and the strong diagonal lines that give it dynamism. It concentrates on one perfectly placed flower (rule of thirds) while the rest of the image in soft focus gives it a sense of place. Very creditable.

And full marks to Suby for leaping to his lady's defence. Does he think that will get him the 1DS MkII any sooner? How does that go... "I write the cheques - you Sinem"?
Suby & Sinem: Thumbs up from such a great tecchie at this? Man, I am pleased! Thank you for your comment Chunter, Sinem
