photoblog image I'M SO FLY

I'M SO FLY

SIN IS STILL IN THE HOUSE.

AND TONIGHT'S GUEST IS... DOM.

I bumped into Dominic at MK shopping centre about two weeks ago when I was doing some street shots (Do have a look at 'The Hoodies' I posted yesterday) and he kind-heartedly accepted my request to take a couple of shots. The result is this photo titled 'I'm so fly' - why did I choose this title? Well, he does seem to have a smug look about him, don't you think? One which says, I am cool and I know it.

Dominic is a quiet, laid-back guy has a lot of charisma and cool behind the silent nonchalance. He's got great manners as well as a big smile which would light up anyone's day.  And how do I know this wonderful young man? He used to be a student of mine.

This is one of those moments where I thank the Lord for sending me in the direction that I chose to take - being a teacher, with all its trials and tribulations, working with young people who are not afraid to challenge ideas, question opinions and refuse taking things at face value. Young people who do not take an inch until you take miles, but once they have done so, will let you into their wonderful, whacky world. Young people who smile and mean it, who would not stoop to show false flattery and fake friendship. Young people who make you proud when you see them weeks, months, years later.

I like the selective desaturation in this shot + the wide angle perspective.
Suby & Sinem: Thank you for the visit and your comment, AirBete.

Great portrait !
Being a good teacher is not easy but for sure rewarding when you see your students back when they are adults!
Suby & Sinem: Thanks, Sidney.
Teaching certainly does have its rewards.
Great use of selective colouring (my favourite technique ever!) very neatly done and makes the subject stand out gloriously.

Great shot!
Suby & Sinem: Thanks, Azhar. I love selective colouring too.

Check out my photoblog to see your edited versions of my remote control!!! Thanks a lot for doing it. They are really artwork, you are very handy with editing.
Suby & Sinem: Hey, Chantal, this is Sinem, not Suby. Yeah, the remote is now a work of art isn't it? Maybe centuries later, when our kids use brain-activated bluetooth mechanisms to change the channel, they will have your photo framed on their wall.

Excellent portrait, what a handsome young man!

As a parent, I wouldn't be more pleased to have you as one of my children't teachers. Bless you as you continue on in the work you were called to do.
Suby & Sinem: Aaaaawww, thank you ever so much, Micki, your kind words are much appreciated.

This is an excellent shot. I like how the background is desaturated and the perspective of the "fly guy".
Suby & Sinem: thanks, Solaria!

nice use of selective colour and love the background distortion! like the simple, genuine effect the shot evokes!
Suby & Sinem: Yippeee yay yo, yipppeee yay yay yeee! The sister who makes Suby tremble in his boots each time she leaves a comment, liked my work. Hehe... That's made my week!

Good selective color on this one. Teaching is a rewarding job, I've been told. Keep up the good work.
Suby & Sinem: It indeed is a rewarding job when you have kids with charming manners and great potential to teach, even on days that do not go well, there is always one to cheer you up.

Hi!

This is great!

It's so good to know that there are still decent youths among us.

I linked your blog to my site. I wasn't sure how to list it so I have it as "Suby and Sinem on Shutterchance". Let me know if you would like it changed.

You guys seem like a really fun couple!
Suby & Sinem: Laurie, awwww thanks for that. Sorry we have sort of gone quiet over the last few days, it's manic in our lives at the moment. We have a huge wedding coming up in 3 weeks that just happens to be starring Sinem & I smile So blogging has sort of been relegated for the moment smile. I like that Suby & Sinem on Shutterchance. It's fine with us. Suby & Sinem

Nice shot, Sinem. Keeping the subject in color works for me. I like your framing of the subject. Cheers, Brent
