photoblog image Grumpy Old Man?

Grumpy Old Man?

Suby In the House.

Another shot from Penrith. Was stood in front of a shop while Sinem was window shopping when I noticed this guy stood by my left on the other side of the shop door. What got my attention was his look (okay it was the lip) and then the hair. Ofcourse I only had a few seconds to take this shot (his family was starting to come out of the shop). I had my zoom lens in, realised I was stood too close so a few steps back I take and capture this shot.

How I would have wished he had looked directly at me - Ummm, I don't think that would have been a better shot as I would have missed the lip :)

I guess he did not like the fact he was stood waiting for his wife as usual :) I really wonder if this is indeed his normal everyday look or if he was really grumpy/ upset about something.

Geez, this is turning into man's natural tendency. When the women shop, the men wait. Just standing there, waiting. I hate shopping, even if it's for stuff I want. The physical act of shopping might put an expression like that on my face, as well.

Nice backstory. Interesting shot. What an expression! Cheers, Brent
I think this is the best Suby has ever shown the Alakija man. I wish your DOF was shallower in this one. But ever thing else is perfect.

That was a great catch! No way at that age that he's new to the lip. I'm sure it's something that he wears often, look how all the lines on his face just go right into position.

In our relationship, I'd be the one with the lip! I hate shopping, and have to wait on my husband when I go with him...which is rare.

i think it's the reflection in the mirror of my future: i know exactly how he feels waiting for his wife to try on that 30th skirt (before of course opting for the first one she saw)!! Nice cpture.

Great shot my friend. Hope all is going well with you guys. I'm going to be on holiday in a week for a week or so, so don't know how much I will be posting. Things have slipped for me, and I need to get out and shoot some more.

Take care....

Good spot Suby, looks like he was 'away with fairies', perhaps pondering a tricky photoshop problem he's got. There's a diffuse outline around the guy which makes me wonder if you've blurred the background a bit or toned it down. As it is, I think the apparent DOF is on edge of fine, but I can't help wondering why you shot this at ISO 800 on a sunny day? Doesn't look like he was moving fast enough to warrant a 1/5000s shutter speed smile smile. Also, the resolution is higher than the 20D can take !!
Suby & Sinem: Eeeeccck You know what, you are right Steve, ISO800. I seem to have fallen for that cardinal sin of not properly checking my settings before shooting(well my excuse is I was on my honeymoon and had "other things" on my mind LOL). That must mean some shots taken the honeymoon where shot at ISO800, nooooooooooo smile

I also agree with you about the background, toned it down a bit but was hoping people like STEVE would not notice smile Boy was I wrong .

Very good spot bro.

Great expression. I seem to remember my boys (well at least one) making very good use of his lower lip. He was a professional pouter when he was really young.

I like to "catch" people with my camera, but I haven't posted the shots. I am always afraid it will upset them if they happened to find out that their mugs are on the internet. Oh well, I guess I need to get over that and just post them.

What is it with the women that they can't just go into a store get what they wnat and come out. Have to look at every out fit try half of them on then when they don't like anything in this store it is off to another where the whole process starts again.

Enough of my rant. Great shot you captured well. One of thos things you just gotta grab when you see it.

Great shot but would have been a lot better with a shallow dof, obviously one can understand why this was so, honeymoonitis!!!

Yep, the lip really does it for me. Sebastian is about as thrilled when we have to go grocery shopping. I would not even dare and take him to look at clothes or shoes with me ;-).
The way he is looking here, if he was looking at you you would have missed your camera as well as the lip.
