The Greatest Love

Sinem In the House

Simon - BeakerSt - responded to a comment I made yesterday about why he had not gone Red shhs on the shot he posted. His response (& maybe a slight dig at me) made me crack up and think "that's soo true(ish)". So I told him I would be stealing his interpretations of shhs mode and posting up here.

He says "it would be easier if the ShMoods just had";

GREEN - "I'm happy with it so please don't pick holes, just appreciate the aesthetic beauty that I put before you"
YELLOW - "I'm undecided, what do you think, could the crop be better, is the focus spot on?"
RED - "I think I'm a pro so cut me down with your critical evaluation"

I really hope his interpretation of red shhs is off with the use of "cut me down" as that is not what I would like it to mean. However I sort of like his definitions. :)

beautiful. I love her expression. You can see the love, but also the concern for what her baby needs. great photo.

Love the expressions. They look like they're having a meaningful little one-on-one there smile
Nice one Suby. Black and white was a great choice.

Lovely touching photo that brings back memories of my children at that age so many years ago.

Lovely capture and works a treat in black and white. I'm not into babies in a big way (sorry) but this works for me
Lovely capture, the expression is superb!
Not bad however to complete this you should try in the channel mixer reducing the green channel to improve the contrast on the face. It's a bit too dark and you need to make the green lighter. Try it!

I like, except more space on both sides, and little more light on Mommys face and perfect for me.

This doesn't really work for me. The lady's expression looks more like exasperation/annoyance to me. Also, the whole composition feels out of balance as the baby is so close to the left. I'd like to crop the right almost up to the lady's collar, and crop the top down to about 1/4" above her head. Then you've still got the problem of the extra hand on the left of the frame.

Lovely catch....I like the B&W very much here...was just wondering how this photo would look if it was taken from behind the women......
Petra
on my monitor this looks very dark. i dont think the connection between the woman and baby is expressed well in this pic. bit bland, youve not pushed the potential of such a great subject. i would have waited longer to get a better shot.
