Self Portrait - in Rear View

Sinem In The House

See  policyofsubster

We all wish, at times, we could rewind the time that is lost, wasted, long gone by... This was the wish I woke up to this morning on the last day of my summer holiday, and the realisation that followed a second after that, the wish is futile. Yet we, mankind, are at times so obsessed with what is in the rear view mirror that we forget to look ahead; mourning the time gone by and the past, we miss the time which is now, the present.

Use the rear view mirror to learn from past mistakes, remembrances, regrets. Do not squint to see what is too far behind to see. Then look ahead and face the new day dawning.

'All that belongs to yesterday has gone with yesterday,

Today is the time to say something new.'

Jalaluddin Rumi, 13th century mystic and Sufi poet

Very true Sinem, if only we could let go of ALL the past. Cool pic.
very nice shot and nice self portrait
Its just that most prople fear that if you completely let go of the past you would fumble and stumble into the future. No body truly wants a change. We get easily addicted to things as they are...
Well nice shot Suby, you know it could pass for a very well produced Canon advert.

I've had to let go of some things in the recent past. (Why didn't i check my camera was placed properly???????) Good words and nice shot. And there's something solemn about the pic that mathes the wording too. Good stuff!!!

this is cool shot Sinem, really good stuff. have to admit theres a black blob on the left taking my eye away from ur lovely face
Suby & Sinem: Almost black blob is a jeep in the background, aim is to make sure that the only thing really in focuse is the face and the camera, the black is less distracting than it is when it is shown in all it's glory, I actually found it too distracting.

You go girl....that's the way to do it! smile

Hope you could see through those dark glasses smile if you had a EOS 5D and i was a traffic warden...it would have been a good opportunity take your camera. Hehehe...

Awesome thoughts to go with this shot! The self portrait looks great, and I like how your processed the background, removing the color.

Enjoy your last day of the summer break before you go back to instruct another group of students who were lucky enough to be placed under your care for this school year.
Very cool pic! You look like a super sleuth here.
Sinem. Private Investigator.
Hmmmm, looks like my comment never went through. Anyway really good shot Sin.
Suby & Sinem: WHATTTTTT!!!!, Nope go back and write the comment, what nonsense, leaving us in suspense trying to guess what you have earlier written, quick write again.

Cool shot. Those words are very true and match your photo so well. The past is a bit like a photo, to look at ocasionally, notince your mistakes or triumphs, then to put away and go take some new shots.

It's tough, it really is...forgetting the past and not being able to relive or correct whats gone by...yet, we have to accept...great words as always...and as for the shot, very sharp and a pretty face merits a 8.5/10

It DOES look like an ad for a camera or sunglasses in a glam magazine tongue But of course, you've turned that first impression around and put meaningful words to it. Great shot and words.
cool portrait, you look cool as well, no smile smile
Its not just your self-portrait, it is also your camera's. The only way your camera can have its self-portrait is in mirrors and other reflecting surfaces, though u can have ur self-portait with help of timer and no reflecting surfaces. Nice idea. smile
