Suby In The House

See  policyofsubster

I love playing with lights, I however do not have the type of lighting equipement I would love, I also do not have a studio or studio equipement at this time, so for my images at the moment, I generally make use of my home or the model's home, with my trusty camera, natural light and off camera speedlite.

For this shot, I wanted to get the graduated lighting effect that you see with a play on the shadows in the background, however I had one problem, the floor was not playing ball LOL.  I could have cropped that part out but decided against it, not exactly what I wanted but I feel the image has a certain charm left intact.

Suby is the floor tiled, I agree with the no crop as her feet have to be in the shot and as to my comment yesterday (Monday) after looking at this shot, what was missing is, was skin tone. I like this one much better. But what do I know.
Suby & Sinem: You know a lot thats why your comments are always welcome and appreciated smile

Glad you like this shot.

hey suby,

terrific use of lighting and shadows in this shot. i also like the added noise...it contrasts really well with the soft, delicate feel of the subject's pose. the only thing that is missing is the bottom portion of her ballet shoes.
Suby & Sinem: Yeah, shame about the bottom, the shots where I got the whole of the model, I did not seem to like one thing or the other so I stuck to this shot. smile

beautiful and it has a nostalgic feel to it. i agree with nicole, i'd love to see the point of her ballet shoes, sort of complete the whole 'balancing act' and control of a ballet dancer..
Suby & Sinem: Thanks, I wish I had got the tips as well, smile Have other shots with them but sorta prefered this capture :d

Very nice Suby, I love the picasso feel. Let me be very picky and spot the little white opening on the top right angle of the frame smile
Suby & Sinem: LOL, Men either I am going blind or your monitor is 10 times better than mine grin Me see nothing

Nicely done! Very artistic !
One day you have to tell me how you convince all those lovely girls to pose in the nude for you!
Suby & Sinem: If I told you Sidney your wife would seek me out and destroy smile Nothing special, I just ask them nicely grin

Hi Suby, really nice B&W. I love the light at the top, the hand on the wall and the hair's shadow.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Roland, glad you like.

lovely, I really like the lighting in this, the ballet shoes are a nice touch.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Faustina

Yes the feet needed to be in the pic to give us a true understanding. It is a shame the lighting was not perfect. Well done very creative.
Suby & Sinem: Well we do ourbest with the little we have smile Thanks

Aha - I'm beginning to catch on, Suby. I know you like 'em dark and this works very well here.

Still not keen on skirting boards though, but I do like that there's a light pool to bring the feet into relief.
Suby & Sinem: Not keen on the noards either, nothing I could do to them smile

Glad you coming around grin

Suby & Sinem: Thanks Nev, hopefully more lovely ones to come tongue

Hi Suby. You know what, I am going to go totally against the grain and disagree with everybody, just to be difficult. Why? Because I can!! I really do not think the shadows were at all necessary, they act as a distraction to my mind, rather than adding to the shot. I also feel that the pic is not screaming out and "in your face" as is your want normally, maybe a tighter crop on the sides would have worked better, still keeping it full length. I also feel that cropping out the bottom of the ballet shoes is an elementary mistake, that you as a pro, should not be making. It is, as far as I am concerned, a good shot and nothing more than that. Now, use my comments as you wish, but hopefully you will take them in the spirit they were intended and remember, the higher up the ladder you climb, the better you have to be. Regards, Neil.
Suby & Sinem: Party pooper Neil LOL Fair comments, the feet where actually supposed to be in the shot, I did not capture it in this shot but did in the other images I got, for a one reason or the other I just prefered this shot to them grin

Suby & Sinem: Lighting intended to be harsh smile Yep wish the shoes where in the shot sad

Good nude study. And grading the light worked quite well. Cropping the sides won't work, I believe - for one cropping away her shadow will disturb the lighting effects you wanted. I find the ballet shoes on the nude quite intriguing - pity the loss of the toes. Looking forward to what you have next in this series.
Suby & Sinem: Yep pity the loss of the toes sad Thanks for the comment

If her feet had been visible this would have been a real cracker. I think it would have emphasised her height and posture even more. Nice lighting though.
