As I call him... "The Alakija Man"

Suby In The House

See  policyofsubster

Out shooting, me tired after having made to walk 1 million million miles by that Alakija fella, cards all full, so no time for anything fancy, shooting in AV, JPEG & colour, when the crazy "Alakija fella" starts fooling around...

Aaaaarrrggggghhh, where does he get the energy from? Twit, here I am dying and there he is all full of energy, anyway puttting all dislike aside for a few secs, I manage to capture a few shots of this crazy fella. LOL. Micki I think wanted more of these type shots, well here goes.

Intentionally increased the brightness of some areas of the shot as I feel it works well with the shot, once again, the interpreation of the image is down to you veiwers, I enjoy reading what you see, so get typing :)

Ahhhh Subs, much better...this is beautiful. This one rocks, and shows so much lifelust, I almost lost it. You have captured that which the New Guineans are scared of losing when they are photographed.........soul.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Bro, all glory goes to the Alakija man, all I did was snap the shot smile

For me it doesn't need to be toned down at all. I like this one bruv and as I say when I really like something I'd frame this and be happy to hang it some where in the house !

Do you ever print these kinds of images to see what they really look like ?

Just curious.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Jonny,

One of the things I did when I was 1st starting out is print quite a lot of my images as one thing I know is what you sometimes see on screen does not neccessary tranlate to the same thing on print. I sampled more than 10 print labs until I found 2 that I felt brought out my images like they are on screen. So to answer your question, yes I do print them, always have to check to make sure smile

I love the expression on his face. The composition does seem a bit off to me though. Maybe it'd be good to crop in on his face and hand and leave the lower part of his body out?
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Ted, funny thing is I do have a crop like you describe but for one reason or another I just seem to prefer this crop this way. But have to say, the other crop does look nice as well smile I think I posted this cause I really seem to dislike cropping after taking the picture... MAYBE grin

I LOVE this photo!!! AWesome ... So full of life!

As I read you've written, even i prefer NOT cropping photos ... i just go for perspective correction, when needed, But hardly crop photos ... Just cant make myself do it.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Bro,

It is really hard to crop images when of camera, I prefer only a crop if I have to get something out of the shot that could not be helped captured. smile

Suby
Nice shot. Thank heavens for wide apertures!
Suby & Sinem: Amen. Glad you like the capture, do have a wonderful Christmas and a beautiful New Year smile

"Hey - you up there. I'm havin' a wonderful life. It's Christmas. Peace man!"

If this is just a snap - keep snappin'.

Hmm, this Alikija Man is getting a lot of exposure lately; I think I've just commented on another one this morning where he is the subject. Is there some promotional campaign on? Has the Alakija Man suddenly become a hot property?
Suby & Sinem: Peeeaaaccceee Bro smile

Wonder if there is, just have many images of the twit I might as well post them up smile

Have a wonderful Christmas with the family and a Happy New Year to you all

Lovely and fitting comment by chunter.

Alikija is like the long distance athlete getting his second breath - something to do with adrenalyn.

Great blog
A lively picture, very dynamic too... and full of life. Optimistic. Have a nice Christmas !!

nice shot,
though i think the highlights being blown out is not really adding...
other than that...great composition...
Yep, great shot Suby, but don't try this in Johannesburg: you will either be arrested as Nigerian drug lords or have all of your camera gear ripped off!! LOL. This really is an excellent shot and for a change I do adore the processing you have done (I must be going soft or getting educated!!) Very well done Bro. Many kind regards to you and Sinem, Neil.

Fun portrait shot. The high contrast works really well -- especially with the hand in the air -- the highlights/shadows are great.

Lovely, lively shot and pp Suby. Nice framing too.
I must be one of the most photographed people on shutter these days.

I get lost in all your tech talk, Suby, and it confuses me. Bet even better, I get lost in the "wonderfulness" of this shot! It's that background that really does it for me. Like you took a wet brush and dragged it over everything to make it look oh so perfect.

There are two things I like about this shot: 1. The person shown makes me smile, I don't know why. 2. He is much darker and at the same time much more detailed than the background. This 'inverted' look is fresh and interesting.
awesomw shot. really like the PP.
truly fantastic
Absolutely awesome Suby. Really liking this one!
If your considered crazy let me join your photographic membershipsmile
