Okay I have DEFINITELY lost the will to live as far as PCs are concerned. 

The PC repair company I have been paying a monthly stipend to for the past 2.5 years are trying to push me over the edge (hold me back someone please)

My soap opera saga with these stupid fools continue.

So where did we leave things last time? Aahh, they were going to send out an engineer for Monday just gone past. 

So Monday comes around & they for the 1st time actually sent an engineer that knew what he is talking about and knew what is supposed to be done. So he comes over looks at the PC and says apparently the problem with me not being able to load the recovery disk is because as the motherboard had been changed, the PC had to be "tattooed" to pick up relevant information from the recovery disks and it had not been done. So he calls head office, they talk him through the tatoo of my PC and presto it starts to pick up the recovery disk, PC engineer now says this process will take about 2hrs and should be easy sailing from then on & he leaves cause he has other jobs to get to. Well 2.5 hrs later Suby is ALMOST IN PC HEAVEN when the recovery is done and then PC switches off to start windows for the 1st time, but what happens when it comes back on, BLUE SCREEN ERROR... Is there a PC conspiracy against me or what?

I barely stop myself from throwing myself out the window (one can get hurt that way you know), so I calmly pick up phone to speak to STUPID PC repair company, they now promise me they will send out their most Snr engineer to my house on Wednesday and he WILL ensure he does not leave my house till my PC is fixed.  I have lost all will to live by now and just mumble, JUST SEND SOMEONE TO FIX MY PC.

Ahh glorious Wednesday arrives (today), sequence of events happens this way

Approximate times
09:00hrs Suby calls stupid repair people to ask what time engineer will be arriving. Advised anytime before 13:00hrs. Engineer will call you to confirm time.
10:00hrs Suby calls stupid PC repair people to ask, hey have not heard from engineer, can you call him to ask what time he will be arriving? After wait of 5 mins+ on hold, advised he will be at my place between 11:00hrs & 12:00hrs
12:45hrs Suby calls stupid PC repair people to ask, where in the world is your engineer? Sorry we are not able to get through to him on his mobile, he will definitely be coming to your place, he might just be running late. Suby asks they keep trying to contact engineer which the do promise and will call me back.
16:30hrs Suby calls stupid PC repair people to ask, okay this is turning into a farce, where is your engineer? Suby advised, he will be at your place before 18:00hrs BUT we still have not been able to contact him, you just have to wait.
19:30hrs Suby calls stupid PC repair people to TELL them "okay this piss take is enough" I WANT you to come and collect my PC fix it and bring it back, will drop PC off at nearest PCWorld (where I bought the infernal machine) tomorrow. By this time Suby slightly lost it and goes ballistic at poor stupid repair people's agent on phone,I have lost out on 5 working days of having to wait at home each time an engineer is supposed to come out to fix my PC, of 5 of those days, 2ce the engineers have not turned up, have lost about 3 weeks without my PC, was forced to go out to buy a MAC (thank GOD I say), so I believe I had a right to go ballistic slightly (all controlled anger of-course). Have asked to speak to a Manager for all those 3 weeks, till today I await a call back from these phantom managers. Have put in a complaint, heard nothing back, I jUST WANT MY PC FIXED FROM CRYING OUT LOUD. Since it was one of their bloody engineers that wrecked the PC in the 1st place.

PC agent splutters apologies, puts me on hold, 8 mins later comes back and says I have spoken to my Team Manager (one of the phantom managers that do not speak to customers I assume) and what we will do is give you a £20 voucher and you can take the PC to PC world where we will pick up your PC and it should be fixed in 7 days?

DId I ask for a bloody £20 voucher????? I WANT MY PC FIXED DUMB PC REPAIR IDIOTS

Reject voucher, just fix my PC I say, get the number for their complaints department, who I will call for their address and the address for their ombudsmen who I will be drafting a nice little letter of complaint to.

One whole day ruined because of these idiots, me just sat at home like a couch potato, jumping up each time someone walked down my road in expectation. Had soo many things I needed to do today that involved me leaving the darn house I could & did not achieve. So so PISSED at the moment.

Well The Tech Guys (actual name of company) thanks for ruining my love affair with PC. 

Anyway an image that sorta depicts how I feel. Barbed wire flogging of all PC repair people sounds like a good thing at this moment.

Yes, I know that feeling... seems as if service in general in all countries is at an all time low. Still, I do like your abstract picture in sepia, beautiful! Hope today is better. Good luck!

I see one of the repairmen jumped the fence. Left some of the steel wool they wipe their backsides with on the barbs smile No wonder they feel squat - pun intended.

The scourge of the 21st century - the service call centre. Only two goals reached by that invention : 1) create distance between the buyer public and management 2) waste everybody's time.

I have read recent articles about the myth of productivity increase via service centres. Some companies actually report positive turnarounds by abolishing the infernal invention.

An open challenge to all managers out there. Get out from behind your call centres and face the music that you write!

You call them and then it starts - your call may be recorded for posterity (warning you not to swear) - press button 1 for complaints 1, press button 2 for complaints 2 (what an admission that they create a lot of issues instead of providing a service) and so on to button 7 - then press 9 to listen to all the choices again (nobody can remember all that stuff anyhow). You press the button of choice and for some time listen to real tinned music and every now and then 'your call is important to us, all our service agents are busy, please hold'. I am too afraid to put down the phone, if I do I have to go through the whole spiel from the beginning if I phone again. Hah, agent at last - you made the wrong choice, hold and they will put you through. And you hear how important your call is again. and again. and again.

Duration of call? Anywhere from 20 to 30 mins. I think it is a conspiracy by the telecoms companies.

Take the £20 and go buy a beer and some pretzels.
Suby & Sinem: LOL Louis, could not help chuckling at your comment, I see you have been burned by the infernal Service call centers, they definitely drive me up the wall, I am actually going to claim back every cent I spent calling them (as it's not free as always). A trick when you call service centres is either press O or no number at all & thats skips all those press 2, press 3 press 6 cr*p & takes you directly to a human (hopefully the right human in the right department) smile LOL

Unfortunately the Subster does not digest any form of alcohol to maybe the vouchers can buy loads of lemonade tongue

I'm not surprised you've chosen barbed wire for your picture today, not in the least.

I'd be inclined to contact Trading Standards and report them. Ask what the minimum/maximum compensation for days work lost due to people not turning up and so on. They'll be very helpful.

I hope you get the darned thing fixed, and very soon.
I know the situation is kinda serious at your end now but just couldnt help chuckling through your post smile I am a mac diehard fan so wouldnt know about blue screen errors! By the way, the shot does do justice to your mindset - maybe once you start using a mac we will get to see some beautiful flower shots ... smile
suby, as the owner of 2 pc desktops and 3 laptops (yes I don't throw away the old stuff) and a Mac curious, You are definitely convincing me to get ahead of the dreaded Infernal Tech Center curve and get me a Mac while I can. from the experience with a few computers and no tech centers to call out here in Suriname, I have learned to solve most problems my self, but you cannot imagine how I "feel" your photograph of today. take the pc loss, ask somebody to transfer all your work to the mac, and sue the tech center, just for fun!!! And yes you can tell them that even in Suriname nobody would want to do business with them anymore!!! wink

Hi Suby, I can definitely understand your frustration...captured well by the picture. I would definitely try to get the cost back of what you would have made with a working computer during the past few weeks. They should also GIVE you a new computer. sad Me feels your pain.

phew, you've exhausted me with your tale...get a Mac!
Hey Bro, I think most of the guys here don't know that you and Macs already have history together but you have the answer to your problems already. All backed up work transfer to the win/tel side of your new Mac that you can't use on the Mac side and just get on with things. As far as the PC repair people go just say to them you've had enough, you have all of this in writing from start to finish and your now going to exercise your consumer rights and you'll see them in court. You have an awful lot of rights here Suby that they are walking all over on it's long been time to put an end to it.
