Finally finished (can I get a yay somone) editing some images we took for a magazine spread today, & posting them online for the mag. editor to choose the images that are going to make it to print. So as a pat on the back, the photographers decides to have a chilled day by doing what? Editing an image & POSTING UP A TUTORIAL :) (Yes I know, crazy).

However as the image was picked out for a simple tutorial that was to be posted up on cleaning blemishes/spots from the skin, found ourselves enjoying the edit to the image too much & sorta got carried away, initially posted up only the retouched image, but then decided to take it down and post up one that showed a before and after.

One hardly gets to see what the original image looked like, well here is a chance, 10 different people will display this image in 10 different ways given the chance, for us thats the fun in photography, not trying to see who is the best photographer or retoucher, but having fun with your images and seeing what you can come up with if you let your imagination run wild.

Promise to post up that tutorial some other time in the future, have so much work to do, have 3 different magazine peices to shoot & edit in the next few months and one of them is for a magazine front cover (YAY YAY YAY) so lots & lots of planning & work to be done.

Anyway this is from a shoot done last week for an amazing person (Mystique for now) who is an accomplished makeup artist, model and on her way to being an accomplished photographer as well.

Time to Edit, Approximately 1hr 20mins.

Wow !!
Suby & Sinem: Thanks bro grin
:d nicely done Sub and Sin, i recognize this. nicely underexposed picture to start with give ou lot of room for the Post Procesing. I would say you were a bit slow though, try to keep it down to 1 hour :d:d

Ohkee, I'll admit, I would have taken 2 hours probably. Love the stuff you guys are doing, and it speaks for itself you got the mag jobs coming at you!!
Suby & Sinem: LOL, we will try to keep it to 1hr next time grin Thanks for the kudos, we trying as hard as we can to make it in fashion photography industry, not the easiest thing in the world smile

i must say you both are extremely skilled. Its amazing what you've done with this photo!
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Onada grin
what a difference, I bow to your editing skills and congrats on your mag thing. Permit me speak my mind though, if I hadn't seen the original i would probably jump on the wow band wagon but a complete turn around in skin tones is just not my forte. I want to meet this person someday and be able to relate back to this shot and not be like "was that you"? In summary this looks over PP'd. I like enchancements and not transformations. Apart from the skin turn around, the eyes bothers me. It seem to have too much pop compared to the other facial features. I am sure you will say thats the goal but IMHO little is more.
Suby & Sinem: Yup thats the goal Dotun LOL, Okay on a serious note, if we had not posted up the original yes u probably could have jumped on the band wagon, but we decided to post this up cause the more we work in the fashion industry, the more we realize just how much of editing is taking place, we wish you would be able to see more before and after shots that go into magazines, you will be shocked. Not to say it was intentional cause thats what you think, but each step of the PP here was VERY intentional, the change in the skin colour was what was wanted, done a few jobs where the clients have wanted this effect, have a look at wakenthedead's blog (http://wakenthedead.shutterchance.com) she does similar on most of her images, now thats her style, for us it is knowing we have the abilities to do this if needs be that is paramount to us. One thing that we always remember, we can give images with almost perfect skin tone, thats not the challenge, it's what else one can do with the image that makes photography fun grin

It really is incredible what can be done with our manipulation tools, S/S! This is a perfect example. And I do know that what you have done here is in vogue in the fashion world of photography, so when in Rome, you do it!

Congratulations on the jobs coming down the pike for you! Keep it up!
I really like this Suby. It is very "fashion magazine", and I guess that's the look you needed to create for this one, so well done that man! I would be interested to see the whole retouched image??
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Chris, this is actually the whole retouched image, this is the way it was taken smile The fashion magazine world is such hard and difficult market to break into, but glad we are slowly bashing down those obstacles smile
I don't think I have any appropriate superlatives to describe the effect this before/after submission has. All I can say is wow! When do we see the tutorial, please?
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Bisola, the tutorial on this one may be a long tme coming, a little too much went into it to do a tutorial on, but one on smoothening skin coming sometime soon :d

Where are the Pores subs? smile
Suby & Sinem: pores are actually there, you are looking at a smaller image with a lot of highlights so you may not see it smile Now look through my archives, really older images, you will see some images where the pores are taken out cause thats the effect I was going for or I was just perfecting the retouching technique.
