Mystique "Revealed"

Subysphoto

Okay here is a full image of the model we used for the Mystique series posted on 28th/29th July & 3rd of August. She (Lorna) is the model on yesterdays post.

Lorna was also earlier featured on the 16th of July .

Nobody guessed right on the little quiz yesterday :(  Lorna is an extremely talented Make-up Artist/model and budding photographer.

Decided to run with minelmio title D e c a d e n c e for yesterdays post, thanks for all the ideas and the congrats yesterday folks.

An extremely tired Suby & Sinem

this is so unfair Suby, I actually thought Lorna and the girl on the post I mentioned were one and the same person, hence my reference to the freckles. I remember her distinctly from the post where she was wearing a tweed cap, but I mentioned the other post cos it was more recent. You are playing tricks of the eye! grin I sort of guessed right, give me the prize!! lol lol!
Ok, I'll go away now...grin
Suby & Sinem: LOL girl, but you sorta guessed it then said it was Nicola smile Pwoor you
Lovely portrait - I like the crop at the top and the way you have bleached out the sides of her face and shoulders. Interesting lighting - how did you do this?
Ingrid
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Annie, used a 3 light set up here, she was then placed in front of the soft box I think and this was snapped grin

very good lighting
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Bro tongue
ok Suby, me like the ligthing here, permit me to grade it 10.5/10 for that. But lets get back to the shot overall, the expression on models face me not feeling, or like Suby will say, its a "Naah" for me, it feels very empty IMHO, especially not for this crop or frame. I will also assume that this shot was meant to be dead centered right? If yes, then it is not balanced. Her right shoulder is lower than her right and the off centered chain don't help either. During such shots, I try to make my assistant or someone closeby watch for such imbalance while I am busy trying to work on my exposures.
Suby & Sinem: 1st point of correction, what makes you think Suby took this shot?

Now to your other points, you probably right, but we don't see those imperfections you mentioned, but maybe it's because we took the picture lol grin
Also forgot to mention about her ears, one is more obvious than the other, just too much disproportions for me.
Suby & Sinem: Men you are a perfectionist, LOL or one of those slightly OCD people that have to have frames on the wall in perfect symmetry grin

Very intense, S/S. I notice that models almost always show no emotion. Hmmm.
Suby & Sinem: Hiya Ginnie, maybe it's because if they had a smile on the face it's a totally different genre of photography, so no emotion is sometimes good for us photographers, BUT THE EYES HAVE TO SHOW SOME EMOTION, It's all about the eyes grin

This is a great picture Sub&Sin. The intense light effect from both sides makes it startling...the resulting continuous curve of the cheek into the neck on both sides is fabulous.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Ray, we glad you like :d

Lovely shot S/S your model is stunning.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Tracy, she truly is a stunning model :d
A wonderfully arresting portrait. She really looks straight out at the viewer.
Suby & Sinem: Yup, she really does, love the images from Lorna, stunning girl :d

I tend to have issues with frames on the wall that are haphazard. So I am reading the interchange between use and D with interest. Strange thing is that I don't want the model too symmetrical - the picture will clam up with cold. This picture I can imagine going with selling a fragrance or similar in a tax free catalogue onboard some airline.

I think it is this kind of ambivalent feeling that says to me I should stay away from fashion and models. Oh well to each his own. Great pic again.
Suby & Sinem: Yup, we appreciate every form of photography, as long as one is passionate about what they capture smile thanks for the comment and visit Louis
A beautiful portrait smile Good days, Yannick
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Yannicktongue
No frown lines then ;o) A good portrait and intersting use of the soft box, will have to try that one... Mike
Suby & Sinem: Frown lines, what are they? tongue

Yup lets see what you come up with bro grin
Ohhh! I have not guessed right, that must be because I am not very kind in the classes! But it does not matter not to have guessed right to me, Lorna also is very beautiful! smile
Suby & Sinem: Nope you guessed wrong, no one actually guessed right smile She is beautiful

Excellent portrait with a good light.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks for the comment and visit Florian grin
Revealed, yet still mysterious.
Suby & Sinem: Definitely agree with you grin
Strange portrait, I'm no sure to like it but it's only subjective and esthetic choice; Very well done !
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Seb, always like people to be 100% honest with their comments :d
very nice shot. very pretty model smile
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Deji. glad you liked this image grin
Hi guys,
thanks for pointing me to this image (after a recent critique of lighting).
http://suby.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Side_Frontal_/
I think it works really well in this example as it is evenly blown out on each side of the model.
Suby & Sinem: You more than welcome Nathan smile
