Tear Sheet iii - Trendsetter Magazine

The Widening Divide Between Rich & Poor

We undertook a 14 page features spread for a major Fashion Magazine in Turkey called Trendsetter a few weeks ago.

The brief read like this: Depict the New 7 deadly Sins as just brought out by the Vatican. Feel free to use your imagination to bring them alive, while not forgeting it is a fashion feature. At that point all the lights went out in our brains, the old deadly sins are so easy to depict, the new ones, we thought "is someone having a laugh here" :)

So these new Sins are:
1. Creating Poverty
2. Extreme Wealth
3. The Widening Divide Between Rich & Poor
4. Bioethical issues, such as birth control
5. Drug Abuse
6. Morrally dubious research
7. Polluting the enviroment

Well after a few weeks of head scratching and banging, ups and downs, dissapointments & elations etc, we put together a team of fantastic models, stylists, hair, makeup etc people and over 2days of shooting came up with some lovely images. As always the magazine has choosen the images they deem depict what they where looking for and best depict the sins in their eyes, over the next 7 days, we will be showiing you the images that made their way into the magazine.

Please enjoy

This is quite creative but i'm not sure it depicts the theme effectively. Also, there are a few hotspots here and there that are distracting. Keep the series coming smile
Suby & Sinem: Hotspots, where? smile Not showing in the print version smile Told you these themes are not the easiest thing to depict grin
Nice picture, but without reading the theme, I do not get the message it is supposed to depict. Having said that I have racked my brain to come up with a better image and I am drawing blanks right now. I guess it is not as quite a challenge.
Suby & Sinem: Sometimes, one needs the words to help carry the image or story, loads of words with this in the magazine, but sadly all in Turkish smile

the concept is excellent
my only nitpick is that the 'poor' girl still looks a tad glamorous.

Startling image...keeps the eyes and mind occupied for ages.
Love it!
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Ray, we are so glad we able to do this, getting absolutely great feedback also from the magazine and their readers, seems we have another shoot in the pipe line for the magazine so seems the loved it smile

Nice image. One or two things rub me wrong the way about the hand placement of either models but overall very impressive.
