Fruit Ala Carte

Suby In the House.

God the things I do for Shutterchance :) Been a real hectic day for me. Got home rather late. BT engineer came today, told my mum (who wonderfully dropped everything she was doing to let the engineer into my house) that my line was working (that is except the point in our bedroom).

Oh well I get home of course make a beeline for my study to see if the Internet is indeed working. IF ONLY :). However after a little bit of tinkering with the phone points, I manage to get the Internet working BUT STILL NOT ABLE TO RECEIVE OR MAKE ANY CALLS.

I then grab the camera and start thinking, "darn what type of fruit shot can I take to post on bl**dy(pardon the French folks) shutterchance now?" Then it hits me, hey Sinem & I are not fruit eating people, are there any fruits in the house? Aaaarrrggghhh & eeccck.

As luck would have it, we have some apples & (something else, name beats me) in the house from the honeymoon. Grab the 1st fruit and it's started to rot. Make to put the fruit down and think, "why not use this in the shot" Aaaahhh ideas start to spring into the Substers head.

As always the Subster wants to be different from all others with his fruit post on Shutterchance today. How can he achieve this? Well with his composition and possible his PPing.

Okay after a little bit of tinkering here and there, the Subster comes up with 2 possible contenders. DARN!!! I LIKEY both shots, they are DEFINITELY different from anything that will be posted up(he thinks).

Okay I will post the shot above here and the second shot can be viewed here

Please please do hit me with your comments on both shots. .

Looking forward to seeing what the other shutterchance members will post up

idleye says .... mmm rotten shot, sorry apple.
Nice effort and I'm with Reza on this - the OTHER one is the one I prefer - no particular reason tho'. The choice of B&W is good.
Of course, you might have chosen to transform the apple - with a knife or hammer!
Suby & Sinem: He he he he, The second shot is currently in the lead. This is going to be a very interesting day. Suby

I guess I will differ in opinion, I like this one better. It has more context if that makes sense??? Maybe it's because we have a lot of apple trees around here and it's not all that unusual for me to find one sitting in an odd place when a squirrel has left it there, like on my deck railing or the steps. The other is just a rotten apple. I like the tonal range in this one too.
Suby & Sinem: Hey Laurie have a lovely weekend. It's soo hot in the UK at the moment (currently about 26 degrees outdoors andf like 326 indoors) and I REALLY REALLY DISLIKE the heat smile Suffering. Suby

Hey don't know whats up with Shutterchance, the comments I sent out to Reza & Laurie this morning were not put up sad Anyway I am glad Laurie likes this shot. It's me favourite to. smile Although I have to say, the second shot seems to be the dark horse here.

Reza man, you definitely will see images from Sinem, she tool loads while on the Honeymoon and she will(okay I will) ensure she posts up some soon, that is as long as work & Phd play ball smile
Suby
Nice idea to use a rotten aple as people usually don't expect a picture of a rotte fruit, they usually exect something freash.
Suby & Sinem: Yerp and I wanted to stand away from the norm. I'm glad the image was liked was not sure how it would be received. smile You have a lovely weekend. Suby

Me likey second shot. Apple seems a little lost in this first shot. Besides my messed up mind really loves the idea of showing the rotten part in great detail smile.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Ella, where is Seb? He been absent a lot these days smile Suby

I prefer this but I will lay down a warning. If you post two to a theme again I will comment on the one that appears here on the correct day. I find it so annoying when faced with a challenge you can't decide so post both. There's enough around shutterchance without following your links and pandering to your indecisiveness. Get off the fence man!

Ah...I feel better for that! wink

This has a lovely leading line down the grain of the wood. The knot is complimentary to the shape of the apple and the knot being a fault in the wood compliments the bruise on the apple. My only negative is that it appears to have been artificially blurred in the background which has created a false sharpness/halo around the apple. Other than that it is a really nice submission.

p.s. I'll beat you to it, my lemon shot is out of focus! wink
Suby & Sinem: The best post I have read in a long while smile Hope you do feel better smile

Thanks for the comments bro

I love this one, the other is too close I think, the positioning is just right here and the detail is great - I hope you promptly threw it out after taking the photos!
Suby & Sinem: Yup it definitely in the bin, we do not eat fruits here. It's wasted on us smile Have a lovely weekend smile Suby

Loving the composition,
Wish the apple was perfect though like without the spot.
GREAT GREAT SHOT!
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Bro, you seem to be quite quiet lately, whats up?
Both are great shots. Way to work with what you got at hand. If I have to pick a favorite I would the close up strikes me as better. If for no other reason than I like closeups. The sharpness of the apples edges on this page isn't as visually appealling to me. it almost makes it seem as if it was pasted in the shot, but like I said up top Great Shots. I canm certainly learn about composition from viewing your shots. Your shots always are composed very well.
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Matt, You made my day, someone learn from me?? Awww, I like you already smile Thanks for the vist and do come again smile

Funny story smile I like them both. The wood that the apple is resting on eyes the eye. The other is good too. I like how you when in closer for the details. What is that dark spot on the apple?
Suby & Sinem: Thanks Alicia, the dark spot is the apple starting to rot smile Have a lovely weekend. Suby

I prefer this photo because i love the structure of the wood....very pretty!!
Think the other photo is cropped to narrow (hmmm is that good english??)
I am very curious how your "style" will develope.
I'll be on your heels smile
Suby & Sinem: I cheated a little Petra, (naught Suby) smile This is my favourite shot to, Mixed bag as it was a split on both shots.
Nothing wrong with your English smile
My style? Probably Dark and diffrent smile

She is such a fantastic (and the bestest writer inthe world) I can't wait for her to get published smile I actually really love reading her stories. She has a way with words that WIFE of MINE (emphasis on the words, "wife" & "mine"smile )

I love your take on the subject Suby. I much prefer this photo, as the composition is more creative here. Also, getting up close to the rot is just plain yucky.
this looks like one of azhars shots subester! LOL! ;P
