Suby, I like this shot much better than the other one. I do find the circular rot patch disturbing though (as well as very probably dis-tasteful smile ). I can imagine this as a poster (if it was a good apple), but not the other one.

Great lighting, great b&w, grain, diffuse light patch. All round cracking shot. Maybe could do with a couple of millimetres extra on the left to balance the apple.

I like both shots, but I think this one is more dramatic. The lighting and the close-up transforms the apple into a very interesting and beautiful object. The rotten spot isn't yucky at all, but like the rest of the apple, a good study in texture. How did you get the matte surface? I like it! And the way the lighting accentuates the depth around the stem is rich.
