I love portrait shots. I love capturing the uniqueness of/in people. I really do not like retouching head shots when I take them. Why should I? I only end up loosing the characteristics of the person. Probably end up being left with a barbie type image.
This picture was taken about 23:00hrs last year on HMS something (forget the name) berthed on the River Thames.
Why have I titled this portrait "Beauty?" First of all ask ourselves, "what is beauty?" I look at this picture and it strikes me as a beautiful picture showing the true face of the subject stripped away of all. It strikes me as a very direct & honest face. I want to know what her story is, where she has been, what life has thrown her up to this point.
Now that for me, is the power of photography. These however are my thoughts.
I need inputs from you my learned viewers. Please do not just visit this site without your comments, leave your views & thoughts about the image, about my own thoughts above. Do you agree, disagree, think I'm loopy?
I need to know.
"Ars longa, vita brevis"
Beauty is simply the total consciousness of our perfections.
